The AB Mauri Global R&D group is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team in our new St. Louis laboratory facility. This position will join the operations team of an R&D facility that focuses on development of yeast and fermentation products for AB Mauri and AB Biotek.

Position Objective:

 

The Laboratory Technician will join the laboratory operations team for an R&D facility that focuses on development of yeast. This position is based in St. Louis, MO and will report to a Lead Research Scientist. The selected individual will provide support for the facility to enhance the smooth operation and efficiency of the laboratories.

Specific Duties

Washing, sterilizing and organizing glassware from laboratories, following specific protocols to avoid cross-contamination

Cleaning and organizing common areas and media preparation areas

Stocking lab areas with appropriate supplies

Preparing various media and plates for use by the molecular and microbiology labs

Assist with receiving duties, keeping logs

Assist lab members with safety related activities

Perform other duties as assigned

 

Laboratory Skills

Can perform routine laboratory tasks such as:

-       Preparing chemical solutions in accordance with laboratory protocols

-       Media preparation

-       Troubleshooting of commonly used equipment

-       Other techniques as required by the field of expertise

Keeps laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipt.

Completes projects by assisting project team and attending and participating in group and project meetings.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.

Enhances laboratory and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

 

Documentation

Ability to maintain and update laboratory research records as required.

Supports laboratory staff by maintaining inventory, logs, and record books.

Assists in the preparation of technical reports.

Communications and Mentoring

Communicates well and works agreeably within the team.

 

Human Resources

Complies with all HR policies and procedures.

Complies with relevant employment laws.

 

Other

Complies with safety regulations within the lab and the company.

Other duties as assigned.

 

A combination of the listed skills and knowledge is preferred

BS biology or equivalent with at least 2 years of laboratory experience. Experience working in a microbial fermentation laboratory considered a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to airborne particles and chemicals. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
